RALEIGH – Second year head coach Tim Santoro has an impressive freshman class in town for the upcoming 2014 NC State women’s soccer season. That’s what two well-known soccer sites are saying with their final Class of 2014 recruiting rankings.

BigSoccer ranks the Pack’s 2014 class as No. 13 in the country while All White Kit has State coming in at No. 19.

Among those schools with ranked classes, BigSoccer rates the Pack’s 2014 class ahead of Atlantic Coast Conference foes Florida State, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest, Virginia, Louisville, and Virginia Tech. All White Kit’s ranking system sees the Pack’s 2014 class ahead of ACC foes Virginia and Wake Forest.

“Rankings are always subjective, and to me, it’s more about what student-athletes do when they arrive,” said Santoro. “However, recognition is great, especially considering how late our staff arrived in the 2014 recruiting process.

“To put a class like this together is rewarding, but the credit goes to the players themselves for their on-field achievements to gain such recognition.”

NC State’s 2014 class consists of the following seven freshmen, all of whom are eligible to play during this upcoming season:

    Karina Lacey (M – Apex, N.C.)
    Kayla Saager (F – East Islip, N.Y.)
Mackenzie Graybill (D – Lakeville, Minn.)
Dakota Stephens (D – Roundhill, Va.)
    Cailyn Boch (D – Raleigh, N.C.)
Franziska Jaser (D – Burgau, Germany)
Annah Lindberg (M – Manassas, Va.)

The Wolfpack began fall training on Wednesday, Aug. 6. NC State opens the 2014 season with a home exhibition against Appalachian State on Aug. 13 and then will host UNC-Wilmington on Aug. 22 for its first official match of the season.
