Having lost the first two games to begin a season for the first time since 1990, NC State embarks on an ambitious weekend looking to breakthrough with road dates at Texas on Friday in Austin and on Sunday at LSU in Baton Rouge, La.
The Wolfpack will take on Texas at 9 p.m. ET, and the game will be shown on the Longhorn Network. Check your local cable or satellite provider if you can access LHN. Time Warner Cable in North Carolina does not carry the network.
NC State is coming off a pair of setbacks during the opening weekend at Old Dominion and at home to Cincinnati. Freshman Caroline Gentry scored in the 70th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1 against the Bearcats in the 70th minute, but a goal minutes later saw UC come away with a 3-1 win.
Friday night will be the rematch of the 2010 season opener when Texas escaped with a 2-1 victory. Then freshman Jennie Krauser scored off a rebound in the 61st minute to knot the game at 1-all, before the Longhorns got the winner in the 78th minute.
The pair of road matches marks the first games played outside of the Eastern Time Zone for the program since a tournament at San Diego State in 2002. State hasn't won a game outside of the time zone since winning both games of a tournament at of all places, LSU to open the 1997 campaign.
It just so happens the Wolfpack will play the Tigers on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. That match will be shown on Cox Sports Net.
