NC State begins its second week of the 2007 season with two games at the HPU Invitational in High Point, N.C. The Wolfpack first takes on Campbell on Thursday at 5 pm at the Richard F. Vert Soccer Stadium. On Saturday, the Pack will play the host Panthers at 3:30 pm at the same field.

Last week, NC State dominated its opener as Lindsay Vera’s three goals led to a 5-1 victory over Davidson. Senior captain Jessica O’Rourke and freshman Caitlin Goodman each added a goal in the victory. The Pack has not lost its regular-season opener in seven years.

The Pack looks forward to getting back to action after dropping a hard fought match to William & Mary this past Sunday. Highly touted freshman keeper Rachel Barnette saw her first collegiate action, working the final 31:49 between the pipes and made one save.

NC State owns a 10-0-1 all-time record against Campbell, who will be playing its first game of the season after three exhibitions. The Camels lost to Charleston Southern and Appalachian State and tied The Citadel in pre-season action.

The Pack holds a 7-0-0 record against High Point, including a 1-0 victory last October 25 at Method Road. O’Rourke scored the game winner, while keeper Sydney Little posted four saves in her first career shutout.

A Live Video feed is available for Saturday's game with High Point for a fee of $4.95. The video is available through the Big South Conference (not NC State). Click on the link above for full details.

Vera ranks second in the Atlantic Coast Conference with 1.50 goals per game, and is third in both shots per game (5.50) and points per game (3.00). Freshman Kara Baldy leads all players in the ACC with three assists, which ranks her second in the league with 1.50 helpers per game.

The Pack welcomes back injured freshmen Sabrina Lukasik and Samantha Herrmann, who are eager to get on the pitch and contribute this weekend in High Point.

NC State returns home to host Old Dominion on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 4 pm at Method Road Soccer Stadium.
