O?Rourke Earns ACC Women's Soccer Honor
GREENSBORO, N.C. – NC State’s Jessica O’Rourke was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week after contributing on all five goals scored this weekend as the Wolfpack went 2-0-0 over the weekend.
O’Rourke registered her first career hat trick as she scored all three goals in the Wolfpack’s 3-1 win over Georgia State at the Summit Hospitality Invitational hosted by NC State. The junior midfielder got the Pack on the board first in the 15th minute of action as she took a cross from Katie Ruiz and headed the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. O’Rourke tallied her second goal of the match, the game-winner, in the 78th minute before capping off the afternoon with her third goal in the final minute of action.
In Sunday’s 2-0 win over American, O’Rourke assisted on the game-winner as she found Lindsay Vera from 10 yards out at 5:42 in the first half. The Marlton, N.J. native then added an insurance goal later in the first half as scored her fifth of the season on a blast from 25 yards out.
O’Rourke leads the Wolfpack in goals (5), points (12), shots (23) and game-winning goals (2) through the first six games this season. NC State will next travel to Williamsburg, Va., for the William & Mary Tournament where the Wolfpack will face tournament host William & Mary on Friday, followed by a Sunday match-up against Virginia Commonwealth.
