RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State hits a critical stage of the ACC season this week with a pair of home games beginning with Miami on Thursday at 7 p.m. The match is available to watch live on ESPN3.
Both clubs opened the league slate with two losses. A win by either team on Thursday night at Dail Soccer Field would go along way in finishing among the top eight teams in the standings that qualify for the ACC Tournament.
The Wolfpack and Hurricanes have squared off each of the last eight years, and the all-time series record stands at 3-3-2. Two of the last three matches have ended in 1-1 draws, including the last meeting in 2011.
Last season, then freshman Cheyenne Spade gave the visiting Wolfpack a 1-0 lead in the 80th minute with her first collegiate goal. Miami struck for the tying goal in the 84th minute, however, neither team could muster the winning goal over the final 26 minutes of play including two 10-minute overtime periods.
Red-shirt sophomore Jennie Krauser and freshman Brittany Stanko are tied for the team lead with four goals, while Krauser is the total points leader with 10 in 2012.
Miami has scored an ACC-low 15 goals this season. Kate Howarth is the club leader with three goals, while Ali Brennan and Ava Ambrose have each scored twice.
NC State hosts No. 1 Florida State on Sunday at 1 p.m. on ESPN3.
