RALEIGH, N.C. - The final quarter of the season is upon the NC State women's soccer team and it all begins Thursday night at home against No. 8 Virginia at Dail Soccer Field. Kick off is scheduled for 7 p.m., and a live broadcast is available through GoPack.com All Access.
The Wolfpack is coming off a 4-1 win at Longwood last Friday in its last non-conference match of the season. The club finished non-league action with a 9-1 record, and owns the 28th best RPI in the country leading into the last couple weeks of the regular season.
Freshman Stephanie Bronson continues to lead the way with 14 points on six goals and two assists, while seniors Tanya Cain and Alex Berger have contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively. Both have scored five goals, while classmate Kristina Argiroff has four to her credit this season.
Senior Kim Kern leads the ACC with 73 saves, while her 1.12 goals-against-average and five shutouts are among the league leaders.
The Cavaliers are ranked No. 8 in the nation, and are coming off a 4-3 overtime win over Florida State. Caroline Miller was named ACC Co-Player of the Week after scoring two goals against the Seminoles. Miller leads the club with 12 goals and 27 points. Goalie Chantel Jones owns a 0.96 goals-against-average with six shutouts.
No. 7 Virginia scored midway into the second half for a 2-1 win in Charlottesville last Oct. 28. NC State took an early lead with a goal in the fourth minute from goalkeeper Kim Kern.
NC State will host Virginia Tech on Sunday at 1 p.m.
