RALEIGH, N.C. – Following a debut season which turned heads throughout the Atlantic Coast Conference, freshman forward Jackie Stengel of the NC State women’s soccer team was named to the All-ACC Third Team and the ACC All-Freshman Team Thursday morning by the league office.
Stengel had an incredible freshman season for the Wolfpack, leading the team in goals (9), points (19), shots (45), and shots on goal (23). The native of Melbourne, Fla., tied for a team high with two game-winning goals and was a threat to opposing defenses whenever she set foot on the field.
Stengel’s tally of nine goals tied for 10th in the ACC at the end of the 2013 regular season.
The NC State women’s soccer team enjoyed an improved 2013 season under new head coach Tim Santoro, going 7-12 overall. The Wolfpack went 5-1 in nonconference play and ended the season with a 2-1 win over No. 23 Wake Forest, the program’s first win over a ranked opponent since 2009.
