    Pack Softball Sets Record-Smashing Standard

    Under first-year head coach Shawn Rychcik, the Wolfpack won the school's second ACC title, advanced to an NCAA Regional title game for the first time in school history and broke nearly 40 team and individual school records.

    For the third time this season, NC State softball has swept both the ACC Player and Pitcher of the Week awards, with sophomores Renada Davis and Emily Weiman being honored for their efforts in the Pack's four wins over Elon and Boston College.

    Softball Completes Sweep of BC With 4 More HRs; Weiman Sets Win Mark

    NC State softball has won nine straight games and has moved into second place in the ACC standings. Sophomore Renada Davis has moved into a tie for the NCAA lead with her 24th homer of the season and her first career grand slam. Sophomore pitcher Emily Weiman picked up her 28th win of the season, breaking Abbie Sims' single-season record of 27 from 2007.

    As a Sophomore (2005): Named to the All-ACC first team and was a second team NFCA Southeastern All-Region selection ... Ranked 10th in the NCAA in strikeouts, averaging 10.5 per seven innings pitched ... Her 1.27 ERA was good for 33rd best in the NCAA ... Pitched three no-hitters on the season, including a six-inning perfect game against Central Connecticut State, the first perfect game in school history ... Struck out a school record 16 batters, fanning 16 of the 18 batters faced, including the last 13 of the game ... Tied her own school record for strikeouts with 16 against Florida State ... Led the ACC in opponents batting average at a .143 clip ... Ranked third in the ACC in ERA and fifth in wins, posting a 20-7 record ... Second in the ACC in strikeouts and fourth in shutouts with nine ... Second in conference games only with seven wins, she led the league in winning percentage against ACC foes with a .875 mark ... One of the top Wolfpack offensive threats, ranking second in doubles (nine) and RBIs (33) ... Second on the team with 16 extra base hits (nine doubles, one triple and six home runs) ...     As a Freshman (2004): Made a team-best 34 appearances as a pitcher, starting 29 contests and pitching 26 complete games ... Struck out 248 batters while walking only 94 in 191 2/3 innings pitched ... Her 9.1 strikeouts per seven innings ranked 17th in the NCAA?Division I statistics, the highest finish for a freshman ... Tallied seven shutouts and compiled a 1.90 ERA, both team highs ... Held opponents to a .205 batting average, tops on the team ... Struck out eight or more batters in 67 percent of her games ... Finished the year ranked second in complete games (26), third in strikeouts and fifth in wins (20) and shutouts (7) in the ACC ...
