Courtney Oliver is in her first season as NC State's pitching coach. Oliver, an accomplished pitcher/designated player from 2004-08 at Hofstra, spent the last two seasons as the pitching coach at her alma mater, helping the Pride win the Colonial Athletic Association championship and the NCAA Los Angeles Regional championship in 2012. Prior to her time at Hofstra, she spent one season on first-year NC State coach Shawn Rychcik's staff at Boston University. She also spent one season at Monmouth in 2009. She has coached her conference's Pitcher of the Year in each of the last three seasons. As a pitcher/designated player, Oliver was a clutch hitter and pitcher for Hofstra as it completed its NCAA-record run of 11 consecutive conference championships. Oliver and her classmates won four consecutive CAA championships and advanced to two NCAA regional finals, to becoming the winningest class in school history. Oliver was a two-time first-team All-CAA player and a two-time All-CAA Tournament selection. As a senior, she had the most RBIs (27) in conference games and led the league in earned run average, posting a 0.24 mark with a 5-0 record in CAA games. Overall, she had 40 RBIs with a 10-3 mark and 1.12 ERA in her final collegiate season. She ranks in the school's top 10 in RBIs (117) and career strikeouts (258). Included in her 32 career wins as a pitcher are two no-hitters. A native of Swansea, Mass., Oliver earned both her bachelor's degree in business administration and Masters' degree in communication from Hofstra. | |||||||
