Senior Bethaney Wells Blasts 2-Run Homer To Lift Pack Softball

The senior left fielder smacked her eighth homer of the season in the bottom of the sixth, leading NC State to its first win ever in the first game of an NCAA Regional, a 2-0 victory over James Madison in the NCAA Knoxville Regional. Sophomore righthander Emily Weiman picked up the complete-game win.

The ACC-champion Wolfpack (33-18-1) will face James Madison on Friday in the opening round of the four-team regional.

NC State Softball Grabs ACC Championship With 1-0 Win over FSU

Sophomore pitcher Emily Weiman shut down the Seminoles with a four-hit shutout to win her 31st game of the season. The 2013 ACC Pitcher of the Year was also named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. The Pack will receive the ACC's automatic berth into the NCAA Championship.

Dent's 2-Run Homer Propels Pack to ACC Softball Title Game

The senior center fielder's 14th homer of the year made the difference in the Pack's 3-1 win over Virginia Tech in the semifinal contest. The Pack will play Florida State in Saturday's 6 p.m. championship game, which will be broadcast on ESPN2.

Named ACC Freshman of the Year after a record-setting offensive season as the Wolfpack's starting shortstop.
Started all 53 contests that she played.
Set a single-season school record with a .362 batting average and a school-record .450 on-base percentage.
Easily led the team with 55 hits on the season.
Finished second in the ACC batting race to Maryland senior Kathy McLaughlin.
Was sixth in the ACC in assists, eighth in hits and ninth in on-base percentage.
Second on the team with five stolen bases.
Tied for second on the team with Bethaney Wells with eight doubles on the year, one behind senior Landon Warren.
Was also second on the team with 24 walks on the season.
Had 14 multi-hit games and a career-high three hits against Boston College and in back-to-back games against Virginia.
