    Pack Comes Out Swinging, Wins Rain-Interrupted Game over JMU, 6-4

    Freshman Hanna Sommer hit a solo home run in the fifth and Kirsty Grant and Renada Davis had back-to-back doubles in the seventh to give sophomore pitcher Emily Weiman her 33rd win of the season. The Pack will now play No. 5 Tennessee in the first of two possible games Sunday afternoon for the NCAA Knoxville Regional championship.

    Pack Softball Falls 7-0 to #5 Tennessee; Ends Season at 35-20-1

    Tennessee scores its seven runs in the first four innings to eliminate the ACC champion Wolfpack and win the NCAA Knoxville Regional.

    Pack Softball Loses 1-0 Heartbreaker in 12 Innings to No. 5 Tennessee

    Sophomore pitcher Emily Weiman goes the distance in the longest postseason game in both NC State and Tennessee history. An 11th-inning, run-scoring triple ended the classic pitcher's duel between Weiman and Tennessee's Ellen Renfroe. The Pack played a second game later Saturday night.

    Senior Bethaney Wells Blasts 2-Run Homer To Lift Pack Softball

    The senior left fielder smacked her eighth homer of the season in the bottom of the sixth, leading NC State to its first win ever in the first game of an NCAA Regional, a 2-0 victory over James Madison in the NCAA Knoxville Regional. Sophomore righthander Emily Weiman picked up the complete-game win.

    Weiman Named to NFCA All-Southeast Region Team

    The ACC Pitcher of the Year and ACC Championship MVP has won 31 games this season for the Wolfpack, which faces James Madison on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the NCAA Knoxville Region.

    As a Freshman (2012)

    • Led the Wolfpack in appearances, wins, innings pitched, earned run average and strikeouts during inaugural collegiate campaign.
    • Posted a 14-18 record and a 2.65 ERA in 38 appearances.
    • Had a team-high 210 strikeouts in 208 1/3 innings, both of which rank in the top-five in Wolfpack single-season totals.
    • Pitched a five-inning shutout against Kent State (8-0) and a seven-inning shutout (3-0) over Campbell.
    • Did not have an at-bat during the season.
    • Was one of three Wolfpack players named to the All-ACC Academic softball squad, recognizing a 3.0 grade point average or higher last semester and her overall 3.0 GPA or higher.

    High School

    • Put together an outstanding career at Archbishop Spalding.
    • Garnered numerous honors, including Baltimore Sun All-Metro Player of the Year, Washington Post All-Metro first team and ESPN RISE/Gatorade Maryland Player of the Year Finalist.
    • Compiled a 17-3 record with a 0.15 ERA in 2010.
    • Surrendered only three earned runs in 136.1 innings pitched as a junior.
    • Struck out 305 opponents in 2010.
    • Helped lead Archbishop Spalding to a 2010 IAAM conference title.
    • Threw six no-hitters and two perfect games throughout her high school career.
    • Played on the travel ball circuit for the Riviera Beach Spirit Gold.
    • Was active in the National Honor Society and various community service organizations.
