NC State softball head coach Shawn Rychcik announced on Dec. 20 that Tyler Profitt has been promoted to volunteer assistant coach. Profitt served as a team manager during the 2013 season and will now remain with the team for the upcoming 2014 campaign as a member of the coaching staff.
"We're excited to have Tyler stay around after graduating in December," said Rychcik. "His work ethic and commitment to the team make him a valuable asset to our program."
A native of Greensboro, N.C., Profitt graduated from NC State on Wednesday with a degree in sport management. In his role as volunteer assistant coach, he will be responsible for video analysis and film editing, helping with set-up and breakdown of practice and assisting in preparing scouting reports for game days.
The Wolfpack opens the 2014 season in Tempe, Ariz., at the Kajikawa Classic against Oregon State on Feb. 6 at 4 p.m. State's schedule features 23 home games and 22 contests against teams that qualified for the 2013 NCAA Tournament.
