RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State softball (8-7) picked up a 13-0 win over North Carolina Central (1-10) today at Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium.

Morgan Peeler earned the win in the circle for the Pack by holding the Lady Eagles to one hit in the game. The shutout was her first of the season, and the Pack's second overall.

The NC State offense put together an impressive day at the plate by scoring 13 runs off of 12 hits. Renada Davis had perhaps her best day at the plate as a member of the Pack, going 2-for-2 with six RBI in the contest.

Redshirt junior Bethaney Wells and freshman Sara Lippard each notched two RBI for State--Lippard in a 3-for-3 effort and Wells in a 1-for-2 day at the plate.

In addition to Lippard and Davis, Toni Ann Williford and Caitlin Dent also had perfect days at the plate.

Katie Mansilla continued her hot hitting by belting a single to lead off the game. She came around to score when Dent belted a double. After one inning, the Wolfpack held a 1-0 lead.

The Wolfpack offense exploded in the second inning, notching 10 runs off of seven hits. Leah Jones led off the frame with a walk and advanced off of the base hit by Lippard. Both runners came around to score when Davis laced a single. Landon Warren, Mansilla, Williford, Dent and Wells reached base consecutively in the frame before Jones popped out. Two batters later, Davis blasted her second longball of the season, a three-run shot, to put the Wolfpack up 11-0.

Davis posted five RBI in the second, and fellow freshman Lippard notched two of her own to highlight the inning.

Wells notched her first hit and RBI of the game in the third inning, when her single plated Williford to put State up 12-0 after three.

Mae'Risha Watts broke up Peeler's perfect game in the fourth inning by notching an infield single, but the Lady Eagles were unable to score.

Lippard opened the Pack's half of the fourth inning with a triple and scored on the sacrifice fly by Davis. After four innings of play, the Wolfpack held a 13-0 advantage over the Lady Eagles.

Peeler retired the NCCU batters in the top of the fifth, maintaining the shutout.

State softball returns to action Friday, March 2 at 10 a.m. versus Purdue in the Citrus Classic in Kissimmee, Fla.
