    Wolfpack Drops Second Game of Winthrop Ringor Invitational

    ROCK HILL, S.C. - After falling behind early against Furman in the second game of the Winthrop Ringor Invitational, NC State pulled within 2-1 on Jen Chamberlin's team leading fourth homerun of the year in the bottom of the sixth. Furman put two more runs on the board in the seventh for the final margin, as both teams are now 1-1 in the Ringor Invitational, in Rock Hill, S.C.

    Shania Ervin pitched for the first time this season in relief, going 6.2 innings, scattering six hits and striking out five Paladins.

    Heather Gelbard went 2-4 for the second consecutive game, while Jen Chamberlin hit her fourth homerun of the season in the bottom of the sixth to pull NC State within a run. Caroline Blount and Abbie Sims singled in the seventh as the Wolfpack attempted to rally.

    NC State is 1-1 in its pool, and will play Ohio State at 2 p.m. and Eastern Illinois at 8 p.m. on Saturday for a chance to advance to the gold bracket on Sunday.
