    Complete Preseason Poll

    OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. –
The NC State softball team was picked No. 27 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate preseason poll, released Tuesday afternoon by the organization. The Wolfpack collected 34 votes to finish just two spots shy of the top 25.

After winning the 2013 ACC Championship crown and advancing to the Knoxville Regional Final of the NCAA Tournament, the Pack concluded the 2013 season receiving 18 votes in the final poll – merely four spots out of the top 25.

NC State returns eight starters from last year’s squad, which finished with a record of 35-20-1 and only graduated three seniors. In addition, seven touted freshmen and a junior college transfer have also joined the squad for 2014.

Fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member, Florida State, earned a preseason listing at No. 12, while other league members Virginia Tech (12), Notre Dame (4), Syracuse (3) and North Carolina (2) also received votes.

The Wolfpack will open the 2014 season on Feb. 6 against the Oregon State Beavers at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Ariz. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m. EST at the Tempe Sports Complex.
