12 of Pack Softball's 17 Home Games To Be Aired Live
Jan. 29, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. - Twelve of NC State's 17 home softball games will be broadcast on ESPN3 or streamed live for free on GoPack.com All-Access, including marquee doubleheaders against Florida State and North Carolina. Beginning with the March 5 doubleheader against USC Upstate, all but one of the Pack's final 13 home games will be either broadcast on ESPN3 or live streamed on GoPack.com All-Access. On March 9, the Pack will host a doubleheader against the Seminoles, with both games being broadcast by ESPN3. On April 13, as first-year head coach Rychcik and his team celebrate Senior Day against North Carolina, both games of the doubleheader will be aired on ESPN3. All other home games, other than the April 7 game against Maryland, will be streamed live on GoPack.com All-Access. "Obviously, this is great exposure for our program," said Rychcik, who was named as the Wolfpack head coach in July 2012 after eight seasons as the successful head coach at Boston University. "It gives our players' parents, family and friends the opportunity to see our kids play if they aren't able to come to the games, and it gives Wolfpack fans and recruits all over the country a chance to see the program we are building here at NC State." The Wolfpack begins its season next Friday, when it faces Georgetown in the FIU Panther Invitational in Miami, the first of five early-season tournaments for Rychcik and his team. The fourth of those events is the Wolfpack Challenge at the Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium on March 1-3. The Pack will face Stony Brook, Kansas, North Carolina A&T and Lafayette in the three-day tournament. Rychcik, a 1991 graduate of Gannon College and a recent inductee into the International Softball Congress Hall of Fame for his career as a men's fast-pitch player, compiled a 271-159 record in his eight seasons at Boston University. He won three America East tournament titles, four regular-season titles and guided the Terriers to three NCAA Regional appearances.
He was also named America East Coach of the Year on four occasions, including the last three seasons. 2013 NC State Softball Home Broadcast Schedule
