RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State softball will return to the diamond at the Georgia Softball Classic in Athens, Ga., this weekend, Feb. 18-20. The Wolfpack will play five games throughout the tournament, taking on North Dakota State, Marshall, Buffalo, Winthrop and No. 2 Georgia.

The Pack currently stands at 2-3 after competing at the USF Wilson-DeMarini Tournament in Clearwater, Fla. a week ago. There, the squad earned victories over Florida Gulf Coast University and Long Island.

NC State holds a combined 6-3 record versus the tournament field, having never faced Georgia. Against both North Dakota State and Buffalo the Pack is 1-0, but stands at 0-2 against Marshall, after dropping its contest against the Thundering Herd a week ago in Florida. The Wolfpack holds the upper hand against Winthrop with a 4-1 all-time mark versus the Eagles.

North Dakota State (1-4) competed in Los Angeles, Calif. last weekend. There, the Bison fell to No. 1 UCLA twice, but pulled out a victory against Central Florida. NDSU is led offensively by Nicole Rivera, who has compiled a .438 batting average this season, while Whitney Johnson is the leader in the circle, and picked up the lone win for the Bison a week ago.

Marshall (2-3) opened their season at the USF Wilson-DeMarini Tournament in Clearwater, Fla., defeating the Pack and Long Island, but falling to USF, FGCU, and No. 5 Florida. The Thundering Herd is paced by Taylor Winton, who owns a .455 average at the plate, and Andi Williamson, who stands at 2-2 on the mound.

Buffalo (0-5) played in Jacksonville, Fla. a week ago, dropping contests to Kansas, North Carolina, Jacksonville, and Bethune Cookman. Jessica Griffin leads the Bulls offensively, batting .333 thus far in the 2011 season.

Winthrop (3-2) took part in the Palmetto State Showdown in Columbia, S.C. this past weekend. The Eagles defeated South Carolina, Furman, and Coastal Carolina, but fell to Charleston Southern and USC Upstate.

No. 2 Georgia (5-0) achieved the highest ranking in program history after hosting the Red and Black Showcase to open the 2011 season. Ashley Pauly leads the Bulldogs at the plate, boasting a .545 batting average. Morgan Montemayor picked up three victories in last week's action, the most of any pitcher on the UGA staff.

The Pack will hit the field against North Dakota State at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 in Athens, Ga.
