NC State-Georgia Softball Game to be Broadcast on ESPN3
Feb. 17, 2014
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team’s 2014 Citrus Classic opener this weekend against the 19th-ranked Georgia Bulldogs will be broadcast live on ESPN3. First pitch of the contest is slated for 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 in Orlando, Fla.
State enters the matchup with a 1-5 record on the season after last weekend’s severe weather forced the Wolfpack to cancel its trip to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete in the University of Arkansas Invitational.
The Bulldogs faced similar adversity over the weekend, as they had to cancel the Georgia Softball Classic due to inclement weather. However, the squad managed to play a doubleheader against Furman on Sunday, Feb. 16. Georgia won the first game of the doubleheader, 6-0, before taking the second game, 7-0, to improve its 2014 record to 7-0.
NC State owns a 3-2 mark in televised games, dating back to the 2012 season.
The Pack will also play Lehigh on Friday, with contests against Albany and Northern Illinois set for Saturday. On Sunday, State will conclude action in the Citrus Classic versus IPFW.
