Weiman Wins ACC Pitcher Of Week Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. –NC State sophomore pitcher Emily Weiman has been named the ACC Pitcher of the Week for March 4, the conference office announced on Tuesday.
Weiman picked up three wins during the 2013 Wolfpack Challenge, increasing her ACC-leading total to 10 on the season. She won games against Stony Brook, Kansas and Lafayette during the three-day tournament. The Pack (11-5-1) swept all four of its games during the home-opening weekend.
Weiman struck out 19 batters in her 16 innings of action, allowing 18 hits and three walks and only three earned runs.
The native of Pasadena, Md., posted an earned run average of 1.31 in the three games and now ranks fourth in the league with a 1.59 ERA. She threw two complete games and only allowed one extra-base hit.
North Carolina senior first baseman Constance Orr won the Player of the Week honors by hitting .444 with three homers and 11 RBIs.
The Wolfpack opens its ACC schedule this weekend by hosting Florida State for three games, a doubleheader on Saturday and a single game on Sunday. The schedule games against USC Upstate were cancelled and no make-up date has been scheduled.
Saturday's games against the Seminoles will be broadcast on ESPN3. Admission is free for all spectators.
