Davis Garners Second Consecutive ACC Player of the Week Honor
March 10, 2014
GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second consecutive week, NC State softball’s shortstop Renada Davis has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Player of the Week, announced Monday by the conference office.
The junior claims the award for the second week in a row, after receiving the honor last week on March 3.
Davis led the Wolfpack at the plate in last week’s five games, compiling a .467 batting average with seven hits in 15 plate appearances. In the first game of the doubleheader against No. 25 USC Upstate, Davis’ single in the fifth inning drove in the only run of the contest as NC State won a pitchers’ duel, 1-0.
The Tomball, Texas, native was 1-for-2 in the first game of the doubleheader against Pittsburgh and was 2-for-4 in the second game against the Panthers. Davis led off the final game of the series against Pitt on Sunday with a double down the left field line to ignite the Wolfpack’s offense.
As a team, the Wolfpack won all of its games last week to extend its win streak to 12, including a perfect 6-0 start in ACC play.
NC State will next be in action on tomorrow March 11 for a home doubleheader against the Radford Highlanders. The first game is set for 2 p.m. with the second game to follow.
