Softball Hosts Final Midweek Contest of 2012

Wolfpack softball will host its final mid-week series of the 2012 season Thursday at Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium, taking on the Elon Phoenix in a single game at 6 p.m.
NC State (21-25) looks to get back on track after dropping three games last weekend at North Carolina. Elon (19-14) has also struggled of late, having gone 3-8 in its last 11 games.
Renada Davis continues to put up impressive numbers in her freshman campaign for the Wolfpack. So far this season, she leads State in batting average (.355), hits (44) and runs (27),and her batting average and hits both stand as the fourth-best mark in the ACC. Bethaney Wellsleads the Wolfpack and the league in most power numbers. So far in 2012 she has smashed 10 home runs and seven doubles, grabbed 75 total bases, posted a .573 slugging percentage, and driven in 37 RBI. Her home run, total bases and RBI totals are tops in the ACC.
Elon is led offensively by sophomore Carleigh Nester who owns a .394 batting average this season. Senior pitcher Erin O'Shea has shouldered the majority of the time in the circle for the Phoenix in 2012. In 118.1 innings of work, she has compiled a 12-7 record and 3.08 ERA.
Following Thursday's action, the Wolfpack returns to Dail Stadium Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22 for its final home series of the 2012 season. State will take on Maryland in a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday before concluding the series at noon on Sunday. Saturday's games will serve as Senior Day honoring Jade Hennig, Peeler, Landon Warren and Toni Ann Williford.
