RALEIGH, N.C. -- NC State first-year softball coach Shawn Rychcik talks about his team's success during the 2013 season in this ESPNU pregame show.

The Pack (30-18-1 overall, 13-10 ACC) was picked to finish sixth in a preseason poll of the league's coaches, but finished its regular season last weekend with a three-game sweep of Boston College and is currently in second place in the ACC standings.

Rychcik and his team are off this weekend, but several other ACC teams are in action. If Maryland loses one of its three games against Virginia Tech, or one of the games is canceled due to inclement weather, the Wolfpack will earn the second seed in next weekend's ACC Championship, which begins on Thursday in Tallahassee, Fla.

The Wolfpack is led offensively by sophomore shortstop Renada Davis, who is the national co-leader with 24 home runs this season. Senior outfielder Caitlin Dent has added 13 homers, while junior outfielder Scout Albertson has 12 and freshman designated player Hanna Sommer has 10.

Sophomore pitcher Emily Weiman (28-16) broke the school record of 27 wins in a season, set in 2007 by former ACC Pitcher of the Year Abbie Sims.
