May 3, 2013
RALEIGH, N.C. – N.C. State sophomore pitcher Emily Weiman, who set the school record for victories last weekend and is a five-time recipient of ACC Pitcher of the Week honors, was named to the Capital One Academic All-District 3 team, released on Friday.
Weiman, who owns a 3.74 grade point average in sport management, leads the ACC in wins, appearances (47) and innings pitched (274) and is tied for third nationally with her 28 victories. She is also ranked 11th nationally in strikeouts (244).
Weiman (28-16), the only player from the ACC among the District 3 honorees, won her final nine starts and 16 of her final 18 outings during the regular season, which ended last Sunday with a three-game sweep of Boston College.
The native of Pasadena, Md., is now eligible for the first-team Academic All-American team, which will be announced later this month.
Weiman and her Wolfpack teammates are off this weekend and will head to Tallahassee, Fla., next week for the ACC Softball Championship, beginning on Thursday.
