Weiman Named to NFCA All-Southeast Region Team

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – ACC Pitcher of the Year and ACC Championship Most Valuable Player Emily Weiman of NC State has been named to the 2013 National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-Southeast Region second team, which was announced on Thursday by the NFCA.
Weiman, a sophomore righthander from Pasadena, Md., posted a 31-16 record through the ACC tournament, breaking the previous school record of 27 by former All-American Abbie Sims. She leads the ACC in wins, innings pitched and appearances.
She has won her last 12 starts and 19 of her last 21 outings. Weiman and the Wolfpack (33-18-1 overall) begin play in the NCAA Knoxville (Tenn.) Regional on Friday at 3:30 p.m. when they face James Madison (41-15 overall) in the first round. A live stream of all games in the regional will be available at www.UTSports.com.
Weiman is one of nine ACC players named to the first and second teams of the two geographic regions that include ACC schools, the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2013 NFCA Division I All-American teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.
