Pack Softball Game Vs. JMU Postponed After 4 Innings Until Sunday
May 18, 2013
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Saturday's elimination game between NC State and James Madison in the NCAA Knoxville Regional was stopped because of rain after four innings with the score tied 4-4 and postponed until Sunday morning.
The game will resume at 11:30 a.m. at the Sherri Parker Lee Stadium on Tennessee's campus, with the winner advancing to play No. 5 host Tennessee in the double-elimination event. If an additional game is necessary, it is slated for 4 p.m.
The decision to stop Saturday night's game ended a long day for the Wolfpack, which lost a 1-0, 11-inning decision earlier in the day against No. 5 and host Tennessee.
Sophomore Emily Weiman took the loss in the early game, which also had a 35-minute rain delay, and came back to pitch the nightcap. After JMU scored in the bottom of the first, the Pack scored four runs in the top of the third for the program's most ever total in an NCAA regional game.
Madison tied the game with three runs in the fourth before a steady rain hovered over the stadium for more than an hour. The game was officially postponed at 11:12 p.m.
