Pack Softball Signee to Play for N.C. State Championship
June 6, 2014
RALEIGH, N.C. – Meredith Burroughs, a member of the 2014 NC State softball recruiting class, will compete for the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) 3A state championship this weekend.
A senior at Charles B. Aycock High School, Burroughs signed her National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play for the Wolfpack in November along with Alyssa Compton, Harli Hubbard and Macauley Prickett to make-up the 2014 signing class. Burroughs helped her team post a 21-3 record on the year and earn a spot in the championship series against Sun Valley High School (24-5).
Burroughs has played in all 24 games this season for the Golden Falcons and owns the team’s highest batting average with a .543 clip. She is also tied for the team-lead in runs batted in (RBI) with 31 and paces the squad in home runs with nine.
C.B. Aycock and Burroughs will be looking for their second state championship in three years, as the squad defeated Fred T. Foard High School to win the championship in 2012.
Sun Valley and C.B. Aycock will play a best of three game series. Game one of the series is set for Friday, June 6 at 7 p.m., while game two is slated for Saturday, June 7 at 11 a.m. If necessary, a third game would be played after the second game on Saturday at approximately 2 p.m.
All games will be played at Walnut Creek Softball Complex located in Raleigh, N.C.
