Oct. 11, 2011
RALEIGH, N.C. -
When the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) all-stars come to town on Friday, Oct. 14, there will be a weekend full of festivities for softball fans of all ages.
First, on Friday, Oct. 14, the all-stars will host a clinic at Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh. It will focus on all aspects of softball, including defense, offense, pitching, catching, bunting, base running, and even the mental aspects of the game. Participants will receive individualized instruction from the professional players and staff members. In addition, both the North Carolina and NC State softball teams will be present.
After the clinic, participants will be able to mingle with both the professional players and the student-athletes, asking questions and getting autographs. Admission to the clinic is $40, and covers admission to Saturday’s festivities.
On Saturday, Oct. 15, the NPF all-stars will battle UNC and NC State in doubleheader action. At 2 p.m., the Tar Heels will take the field against the professionals, including UNC alumni and current Wolfpack softball staff members Brittany McKinney and Lisa Norris. The Wolfpack will then battle the NPF all-stars at 4 p.m. The games will take place at Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Softball Stadium, and admission for the doubleheader is $10.
