COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The NC State women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 decision to the Maryland Terrapins on Sunday to close out the 2014 regular season.

The Wolfpack (8-13, 2-12 ACC) will now prepare to face Virginia Tech in the ACC Tournament, beginning on Wednesday, April 24. The 14th-seeded Pack will face the 11th-seeded Hokies at noon at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

Against the Terps, the Wolfpack suffered a trio of hard-fought, three set losses in singles play after dropping the doubles point in an equally compelling display of tennis.

Joelle Kissell and Sophie Nelson fell to Welma Luss and Nataliya Bredikhina from the No. 1 doubles spot, 8-5 only to see Rachael James-Baker and Liza Fieldsend capture their team-leading 10th doubles match of the season with an 8-5 victory over Olivia Gaudreault and Alexandra Stanova.

From there, Elisha Hande and Nicole Martinez came up short in No. 3 doubles, dropping an 8-7 (7-3) tiebreaker to Kristina Hovsepyan and Olga Gaistruck that clinched the doubles point for the Terps.

In singles, James-Baker won her team-leading 12th dual singles match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Nataliya Bredikhina on court two, while Fieldsend took her match 6-3, 7-5 over Olga Bredikhina at No. 5 singles.

Hovsepyan upended Hande on court four, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 while Luss defeated Martinez 6-2, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 3 singles. Gaistruck followed with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Nelson on court six to clinch the win for Maryland.

Kissell, who claimed the NC State dual singles record on Friday with her 60th career win, added to that mark on Sunday with a 7-6 (8-6), 0-6, 6-4 win over Stanova at the No. 1 singles spot.
