RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women’s tennis team will put its unblemished record on the line when it plays the second of its five-match home stand Thursday, Mar. 14, at 4 p.m. at the Curtis and Jacqueline Dail Outdoor Tennis Stadium.

    Last Time Out:

The Pack took two of three doubles matches to win the doubles point, before going on to take five of six singles matches to seal the 6-1 win over UNCW. Junior Joelle Kissell and freshman Rachael James-Baker both dropped the first sets of their singles contests, but rallied back to win the final two frames in their respective matches.

    Scouting VCU:

The Rams enter Thursday’s matchup with an 11-4 record on the season. At this point in the season, VCU and NC State share a trio of common opponents in Winthrop, Wake Forest and South Florida, as both teams defeated those opponents earlier this season.

VCU is led by Salome Kvitashvili’s 16-6 singles record, while Olga Barscheheuskaya owns a 12-4 mark and is 5-2 in dual matches. Daria Yakauleva and Olga Terteac lead the Rams with a 6-1 doubles record, which includes a 3-1 ledger in dual matches.

    NC State Notes:

    • The Wolfpack (9-0) is off to its best start in program history after defeating UNC Wilmington, 6-1, last Friday.
    • NC State has been climbing in the ITA poll. After opening the season unranked, the Wolfpack now stands at No. 30 in the latest rankings, released Tuesday.
    • The Pack owns a 43-11 (.796) combined mark in dual singles matches this spring and is led by senior Chloe Smith’s perfect 9-0 mark playing at the No. 6 spot in the lineup.
    • Kissell, ranked No. 63 in the latest ITA singles poll, owns an 8-1 dual singles record playing in the No. 1 spot.
    • NC State has yet to lose the doubles point in a dual match this spring and owns a combined record of 22-2 (.917) in dual doubles play.
    • The sophomore duo of Elisha Hande and Nicole Martinez are unbeaten at 7-0 playing in the No. 2 spot, while the tandem of Smith and sophomore Sophie Nelson own an 8-1 record in the No. 3 spot.
