RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team will face off with No. 67 Boston College in the first round of the 2012 ACC Championships on Thursday, April 19. The match is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.
The Pack (7-15, 3-8 ACC) finished the year as the No. 9 seed. The Eagles (10-12, 3-8 ACC) are the No. 8 seed, owning the tie-breaker over NC State as they won the regular season competition between the two schools earlier this season.
The schedule for NC State and Boston College is a carbon-copy of the 2011 ACC Championships. The Pack swept the Eagles in the first round, before falling to No. 1 Duke a year ago. The winner of Thursday's match will again advance to play No. 1 seed Duke.
NC State has one netter ranked in singles action- No. 31 Joelle Kissell. Kissell is 14-8 on the year, and has defeated seven ranked opponents, including No. 16 and No. 20. Erina Kikuchi is ranked No. 104 for Boston College. Kikuchi defeated Kissell when the two faced off earlier this season.
Both teams have one doubles pair ranked as well. Kissell and Ashley Miller made their first appearance in the doubles poll this week, coming in at No. 76. The duo has put together an 8-12 record this spring, and knocked off No. 15 Belzunce/Luus of Maryland two weeks ago.
Kikuchi and Jessica Wacnik are ranked No. 89 in doubles for the Eagles.
