No. 34 Women's Tennis Advances to NCAA Championships
The No. 34 NC State women’s tennis team has advanced to the NCAA Championships and will face No. 24 William & Mary on May 9 in the first round . This is the third straight season the Wolfpack have advanced to the NCAA Championships under Head Coach Hans Olsen. Before Olsen came to NC State the Pack had only made the NCAA Championships one time (1998) in school history.
“We are very excited about the NCAA Championships,” Olsen said. “Our team has been proving themselves each week this year with passion and determination and we will be ready for the NCAA's. Our players have a tremendous amount of experience in post season play. This will be the 3rd year in a row that our program advances to the NCAA Championships and we are looking forward to the tournament.”
The Red and White are currently 13-10 this season and advanced to the quarterfinals at the ACC Championships. On Senior Day, the Wolfpack defeated its second-highest opponent in school history by taking a 4-3 decision over No. 19 Florida State.
The Pack and will face either No. 9 Duke or Temple on May 10 if they advance to the second round. All of the matches will the played in Durham, N.C.
