RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State senior Joelle Kissell has been selected as the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Carolina Region’s recipient of the Most Improved Senior Award, as announced by the organization on Tuesday, May 13.

A native of Hostetter, Pa., Kissell capped off a historic senior season by setting the career record for the most all-time dual singles victories in NC State women’s tennis history. Kissell's final mark of 62 wins eclipsed Jenny Sell's previous record of 59 that had stood for the last 21 years.

A two-time NCAA Singles Championship selection and three-time All-ACC honoree, Kissell ranks fourth all-time at State in career dual doubles victories with 45 and finished her Wolfpack career as the winningest player in program history.

This season, Kissell compiled an overall mark of 15-18 and 12-10 in dual singles matches – all of which were played at the No. 1 spot in the lineup. Furthermore, she collected a team-high three wins against ranked opponents on the year. In doubles, she finished with an overall record of 13-11, including an 11-9 mark in dual doubles matches that featured victories over two ranked opponents.
