Three Wolfpackers Named Scholar Athletes by ITA

RALEIGH, N.C. – Three members of the NC State women’s tennis team, including recent graduate Joelle Kissell, rising senior Elisha Hande and rising junior Taylor Zaytoun were named 2014 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athletes, as announced by the organization Thursday afternoon. In addition, Wolfpack women’s tennis team was recognized by the association after maintaining a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or higher throughout the season.
NC State is joined by six ACC schools on the ITA Academic Teams list, including Duke, Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest. The ACC’s newest member, Louisville, also appeared on the list.
Kissell was named ITA Scholar Athlete for the third time in her illustrious NC State career, while Hande and Zaytoun each has received the honor for the second time in their respective careers.
A student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.50 grade point average for the current academic year, must remain enrolled at the present school for a minimum of two semesters and must earn a varsity letter to receive ITA Scholar-Athlete status.
