Women's Tennis Travels to Virginia Tech

Raleigh, N.C. - Members of NC State's women's tennis team will be in action this weekend in Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia Tech Fall Invitational. Seniors Myrna Bawono, Loni Worsley and Landis Strader will participate in the event, which is scheduled to last three days. First round action will commence at 8:00 a.m. on Friday.
Two draws of competition have been organized for the tournament. The maroon bracket consists of 30 players with byes going to the number one and two seeds, while the orange bracket will see 28 players in competition with byes awarded to the one, two, three and four seeds.
Bawono is listed as the No. 4 seed in the maroon draw. she will be in action early Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. against Laura Dickenson from Radford University. If Bawono wins her match, she would advance to the second round, which will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. Should she lose, she would enter the backdraw and play at 5:30 p.m.
Worsley enters the tournament as the No. 1 seed in the orange draw and will advance to the second round to play either Petra Klimpova of Hampton or Radford's Alsion Lindsey. Klimpova participated in NC State's Fall Invitational two weeks ago as the No. 1 seed in the B1 singles draw, but lost in the first round 6-0, 6-0.
Bawono and Worsley are both 1-0 this fall.
Strader is also listed in the orange draw with Worsley. She will face Renata Hlavova of Hampton at noon on Friday. If she prevails, she will face No. 3 seeded Lucie Novoveska from Hampton.
Bawono and Worsley will pair up as the No. 2 seed in doubles action late Friday evening at 8:30 p.m. They will face the tandem of Duarte/Glas from Radford.
Action for the tournament will be held at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Complex on the campus of Virginia Tech.
