Play Continues at Kitty Harrison Invitational
Chapel Hill, N.C. - The NC State women's tennis team competed in doubles continued their play at the Kitty Harrison Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 7.
In singles competition, the Wolfpack faced Virginia, splitting the six matches. Sandhya Nagaraj was impressive, beating Lindsey Hardenbergh, 2-6, 6-0, (10-8). Chloe Smith swept Riley Blanks in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. Daria Petrovic took down Maria Fucillo, 7-5, 6-2. Berkeley Brock lost a close match to Jennifer Stevens, 6-4, 3-6, (11-9). Lenka Hojckova was defeated 7-5, 6-2, by Erin Vierra. Ashley Miller fell short to Hana Tomljanovic, 6-1, 6-4.
North Carolina was the Wolfpack's first doubles opponent on Saturday. Petrovic and Smith teamed up to beat Jelena Durisic and Linzee Mabrey, 8-6. Brock and Nagaraj lost to Shinann Featherston and Katrina Tsang, 8-6. The duo of Hojckova and Tana Illova lost 9-7, to Jocelyn Ffriend and Haley Hemm.
The other opponent for the day was Princeton. After winning their first match on the day, Petrovic and Smith lost to Melissa Saiontz and Rebecca Parks, 8-2. Brock and Nagaraj were defeated 9-7, by Hilary Bartlett and Taylor Marable. Hojckova and Illove fell short to Monica Chow and Rachel Saiontz, 9-7.
