NC State earns first sweep of 2014 season
The Wolfpack posted a 6-2 record last weekend at its own tournament in Reynolds Coliseum. It will play its final event of the spring on Saturday at Chapel Hill.
The Pack wins five of its eight sets in Virginia Beach, Va. The Pack hosts its second tournament of the spring this Saturday at Reynolds Coliseum.
2013: Played in 31 of 32 matches as a junior and saw action in 112 sets ... Led the team in digs for the second consecutive season with 461, an average of 4.12 digs per set ... Recorded double-digit digs in 22 matches ... Posted a season high 26 digs in a five-set win for the Wolfpack at home against Pitt ... Notched 20 or more digs seven times during the year ... Paced the squad in digs in 24 matches on the season ... Registered the 1,000th dig of her career against Duke at home and now has 1,199 to her credit ... Also finished the season with 22 service aces, the third most on the team ... Garnered all-tournament honors at the Golden Griffin Invitational hosted by Canisius after posting 47 digs over three matches ... Claimed all-tournament honors for the second time at the Rice Invitational II, compiling 64 digs in three contests
2012: Played in all 32 matches and all 122 sets in her second season with the Wolfpack ... Led the team with 451 digs, an average of 2.83 per set ... Notched a career-best 29 digs at Wake Forest and mirrored that effort the next day at Duke with 29 more digs ... Had a career-high seven assists in both the UNCW and Georgia Tech contests ... Posted a career high three service aces in wins against South Florida, Boston College and Virginia ... Made arguably one of the best plays of the year against UNCW when she chased down an errant pass, stuck out her foot and kicked the ball high into the air from the endzone to teammate Nikki Glass, who batted the ball backwards over the net from near the baseline ... State went on to win that point and Kearns' play was chosen as No. 8 on ESPN's Sportscenter Top 10 on Tuesday, Sept. 11
2011: Started 24 matches and played in all 34 contests as a true freshman for the Wolfpack ... Played in 115 of the team's 124 sets ... Second on the team with 287 digs on the season, an average of 2.5 per set ... Owned a .286 attack average ... Posted a career-high 19 digs in the Wolfpack's win over nationally ranked Wisconsin. Added 18 digs against Miami and Boston College ... Played all five sets in six different matches ... Finished the season with 2 kills, 19 assists, 16 service aces and 287 digs
Prep: Garnered Prep Volleyball All-America honors in 2010 ... Named an AVCA Under Armour All-America honorable mention as a senior ... Led Apex to a 27-0 record, 4A state championship and No. 9 ESPN national ranking in 2010.
