NC State Volleyball Notches First ACC Win With Four-Game Victory Over Maryland

RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State rallied from a 22-16 deficit in the fourth game to keep Maryland from tying the match at two games apiece, and defeated the Terrapins 30-22, 30-23, 19-30 and 30-27 in Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball action Saturday night at Reynolds Coliseum. The win was the first ACC win for first-year NC State head coach Mary Byrne. The Pack improved to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the ACC. With the loss, Maryland fell to 3-6 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
Senior co-captains Charece Williams and Alison Kreager led NC State. Williams tallied 18 kills and 14 digs. Kreager had 17 kills, a sensational .433 attack percentage, eight digs and three total blocks. The Wolfpack got strong contributions from a pair of freshmen as well. Melanie Rowe had 13 kills, 15 digs and a pair of blocks, and setter Lindi Sheppard had six kills, 50 assists, four service aces and 11 digs.
Maria DiLivio led Maryland with 15 kills, while Carey Brennan had 14 kills, a .294 percentage, 10 digs and four total blocks. Lynnsy Jones had 12 kills, eight digs and three blocks
The Wolfpack will return to action on Friday, September 28 at Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium, at 7:30 p.m.
