RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State’s volleyball team, which had its best season in a quarter century in 2012, will look to improve for the fourth season in a row under head coach Bryan Bunn when it hosts two early-season tournaments, travels to two more and plays a challenging ACC schedule that will include new members Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse.

The final schedule for the upcoming season was announced.

The Pack, which was 22-10 overall and 12-8 in the ACC, qualified for the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 1988 and won its opening set against Texas A&M before eventually falling in the first-round match, 3-1.

Returning this season will be senior middle blockers Brie Merriwether and Meredith Richardson and defensive specialist Katie Ganny. The junior class is made up of outside hitters Rachel Buckley, Nikki Glass, Dariyan Hopper, middle blocker Alesha Wilson and libero Alston Kearns.

Other returning players include sophomore middle blocker Morgan Cormier, red-shirt sophomore outside hitter Laura Blab and redshirt freshman outside hitter Courtney Reiman.

The Pack will also welcome six newcomers: sophomore Tanna Aljoe and freshman Maggie Speaks at setter; freshmen outside hitters Eve Davis and M.C. Preddy; and freshmen defensive specialists Rachel Eppley and Maddie Brown.

Bunn’s team will debut on Aug. 24 at 5 p.m. in the intrasquad Wolfpack Challenge at Reynolds Coliseum. Its first regular-season match will be against host Canisius in a four-team tournament in Buffalo, N.Y. The Pack will host the first of its two tournaments on Sept. 6-7, followed by a second on Sept. 20-21.

In between, the Pack will travel to Houston for a four-team tournament hosted by Rice.

The Pack will conclude the season with 20 consecutive ACC matches, beginning on Sept. 25 at North Carolina. It will host Notre Dame in its first ACC home match on Sept. 29.

Admission for all home matches is free for all spectators. Follow the Wolfpack on Twitter (@PackVBall), by liking the official NC State Volleyball Facebook page and at www.GoPack.com/volleyball.
