Volleyball Set for Two Home Matches this Weekend
RALEIGH, N.C. – Head coach Charita J. Stubbs and the NC State volleyball team will host both Virginia Tech and Virginia in Atlantic Coast Conference play at historic Reynolds Coliseum this weekend. Admission is free to both matches, and live stats will be offered online via GoPack.com.
The Wolfpack will host the Hokies on Friday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m., before facing the Cavaliers on Sunday, Nov. 8 at 1 p.m.
The Pack already faced both teams in early October, falling in both Blacksburg and Charlottesville.
NC State stands at 7-21 (0-13 ACC) after dropping a 3-0 contest at North Carolina this past Tuesday. Kelly Wood leads the team with 187 kills, while Alex Smith 637 set assists is also a team best. Sarah Griggs has 21 service aces, and Lindsay Benac has roped in 376 digs. Lisa Kretchman has been sensational in her farewell season, posting a team-high 67 total blocks in addition to 165 kills.
The Hokies (16-8, 6-7 ACC) have dropped their last three contests, all of which have come in conference. Prior to its recent skid Virginia Tech had won five-straight ACC bouts, four of which came at home. Justine Record leads the roster in kills with 248.
The Cavaliers (10-14, 5-8 ACC) have won three of their last four, including a 3-2 win over Miami this past Sunday in Charlottesville. Simon Asque boasts 316 kills, 122 more than any other player on the roster. UVa will play at North Carolina on Friday before heading to Raleigh.
Following this weekend the Wolfpack will hit the road for the next two weeks – a span of four conference games. NC State will play at Boston College, Maryland, Duke and Wake Forest, before wrapping up its season at home against North Carolina on Wednesday, Nov. 25.
