Raleigh, N.C. -
Ten years ago, through the assistance of Wolfpack Sports Properties, the NC State Athletic Department and Caterpillar, the Caterpillar Scholar Athlete program was launched to recognize athletes who excelled in the classroom as well as on the field of play. These honorees represent the highest academic achievements among NC State’s student athletes.
Five years ago, Caterpillar, with support from Gregory Poole Equipment Company, donated a one-of-a-kind NC State branded tracked skid steer loader to help the athletic facilities crew maintain the ACC’s best stadium. This season, fans were given the opportunity by Caterpillar to bid on this machine with the proceeds going to support athletic scholarships through the Wolfpack Club.
At a ceremony in Fan Zone prior to the NC State vs. Virginia football game, Mr. Norman Coley from Conover learned that his bid was the highest accepted. He joined Bobby Purcell, Executive Director of the Wolfpack Club, on the field Ray Brincefield, Assistant Athletic Director, where Caterpillar Marketing and Product Managers Judy Mathews and Reid Waitt presented the keys to the RED NC State Multi Terrain loader to Mr. Coley.
Caterpillar Commercial and Association Managers Jeff Griffith and Jason Becker presented Ray Brincefield with the keys to a brand new custom designed BLACK NC State tracked skid steer loader manufactured right down the road in Sanford, North Carolina - Caterpillar’s Worldwide Manufacturing source for Skid Steers. This new vehicle will be used by the NC State athletics facilities staff and by students in the NC State Horticulture Club.
Many of the employees who assisted in the design, manufacturing, and marketing of this machine attended the Homecoming festivities at the game. Please join us in sharing our appreciation to Caterpillar and its employees for their generous support of NC State Athletics. Caterpillar and NC State…Leading the Pack!
