No. 15 Rifle Prepped for GARC Matches Against Kentucky, Memphis

RALEIGH, N.C. - The 15th-ranked NC State rifle team will take to the road this weekend for a pair of Great America Rifle Conference (GARC) matches. The squad will compete against the University of Kentucky on Friday, Oct. 25 and Memphis on Saturday, Oct. 26, inside the Buell Armory on the UK's campus.
The Wolfpack is coming off a strong performance last weekend at the South Eastern Air Rifle Conference (SEARC) match three. The team finished the event with a team score of 4594, after recording a score of 2309 in the air rifle competition and a 2285 in smallbore.
Sophomore Daniel Cliff leads the team on the season with an average of 579 with the air rifle, while freshman Lucas Kozeniesky paces the squad in smallbore with a 570.7 average. Alex Martin, a sophomore from Swanzey, N.H., owns the team's best individual average in total match score at 1148.
Last season, NC State set a program record against the Kentucky Wildcats with a team score of 4604. Despite the school record, the Wildcats edged the Wolfpack with a final score of 4686. State pulled off the upset against the Memphis Tigers last season, as the Pack slipped past the Tigers, 4592 - 4579.
The Wildcats enter Friday's match with a 1-0 record on the season, after defeating Ole Miss in its first contest of the season, 4688 - 4621. Memphis is coming off a third place finish at the Ole Miss Invitational on Oct. 7. The Tigers fired a program-best 4647 at that match.
