Boffa Garners ACC Male Swimer of the Week Accolade

RALEIGH, N.C. - Senior Jonathan Boffa of the 21st-ranked NC State men's swimming & diving team was named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Male Swimmer of the Week, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office.
Among male swimmers, Boffa leads the conference with three ACC Male Swimmer of the Week honors, as he previously garnered the accolade on Oct. 29, 2013 and Jan. 7.
Boffa, a native of Verona, Italy, posted six individual victories and was part of two more relay wins in meets against North Carolina and Virginia last weekend.
Against the Tar Heels, the senior finished first in the 100 (43.83) and 200 (1:36.72) freestyle events. Boffa was also part of the first-place 400 freestyle relay team that finished with a time of 2:56.08.
In NC State's win against Virginia on Saturday, Boffa led the men's squad with two first-place finishes in the 100 (44.80) and the 200 (1:37.72) freestyle events. In addition, he was also part of the 200 free relay team that sealed the victory for State with a new Willis R. Casey Aquatic Center pool record with a time of 1:19.60.
The 21st-ranked women's squad and men's divers will travel to Greensboro, N.C., to participate in the ACC Championships from Feb. 19-22. The men's squad will participate in the Men's ACC Championships from Feb. 26-March 1 also in Greensboro.
