Feb. 18, 2014
RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State swimming & diving team is set to compete in the 2014 ACC Championships, which will be held Feb. 19-23 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. This week's competition will include women's swimming & diving championships, along with the men's diving championships.
"We're excited to be heading to Greensboro for the Women's ACC Swimming & Diving Championships and the men's diving championships," said head coach Braden Holloway. "It's an exciting venue and an exciting meet and the environment should be great."
The Wolfpack women's squad concluded the regular season listed No. 22 in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) poll, after finishing the regular season with a 6-5 ledger.
Last season, the women's squad finished fifth overall at the conference meet. The 200 freestyle relay team highlighted the meet by winning the gold medal with a school record time of 1:30.61.
In the squad's most recent meet, the Pack was successful in capturing the 200 free relay and 200 medley relay in a loss against Virginia. In the conference, the Wolfpack's quartet of Lauren Poli, Ashlyn Koletic, Natalie Labonge and Riki Bonnema ranks third in the 200 free relay with a top time of 1:30.86.
"We have a really good group going and I feel good about where they are and what they can achieve," Holloway said. "We have a lot of new faces competing in this meet for the first time, so it'll be interesting to see how much fun they have."
Wednesday's schedule will consist of the 200-medley relay event starting at 6 p.m. and the 800 freestyle relay beginning at 7 p.m.
Admission to the event is free, but there will be an $8 fee for parking each day of the event. Fans could also opt to purchase a $15 pass for the week, but the pass must be purchased on Wednesday or Thursday.
A complete list of events and times, as well as live web streams and results, will be available at the ACC Swimming & Diving Championships Central.
