Pack Primed for Meet on Friday, Saturday
Nov. 1, 2012
RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State swimming & diving team will host its home opener Friday, Nov. 2, at 5 p.m., against East Carolina and Campbell University's women’s team. On Saturday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m., the squad will head over to Durham, N.C., to compete against Duke and Miami.
“We’re happy to be at home on Friday,” head coach Braden Holloway said. “It’s the first home meet of the season, so hopefully we will get a large crowd to come out and support the student-athletes.”
East Carolina (6-0) and Campbell (6-1) are no strangers to the Wolfpack, as the two schools participated in the All-NC Invitational along with NC State. The Pack finished first on the men’s and women’s side, but were followed closely by East Carolina. On the women’s side, ECU finished second, while Campbell ended sixth. The men’s team from ECU completed the invitational in third place.
“We’re excited about the first meet,” Holloway said. “We’re bringing in Campbell and East Carolina, both of which will be great competition for us.”
Since the invitational, the men’s team has competed against the University of Southern California, while the women faced LSU. Both teams yielded solid results in their respective meets, but were downed by their opponents.
Despite the loss to USC, the men’s team is currently ranked 14th nationally, according to the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
Saturday the team will make a short trip over to Durham, N.C., to compete against the Duke Blue Devils (2-4) and Miami Hurricanes (1-2). The meet is slated to begin at 11 a.m., in Taishoff Aquatic Pavilion.
Results and a full recap will be posted to GoPack.com after each meet.
