Wolfpack Completes Day One of Virginia Tech Elite Meet

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The NC State track and field team wrapped up day one of the Virginia Tech Elite Meet on Friday, as 31 Wolfpack student-athletes competed in 12 different events on the night.
Paisley Simmons garnered the best showing amongst both the State men and women with her third-place finish in the women's 60 meter dash with a sprint of 7.56. The High Point, N.C native has now finished in the top-three six times on the year, including three first-place finishes in the 60m.
Nicole Chavis finished a Wolfpack-best fourth in the women's weight throw with a toss of 19.54 meters, while Sequoia Wakins cemented a ninth-place showing with a heave of 17.56m.
In the women's 200m, Tyra Lea (24.78) finished in sixth place while Tiana Patillo (24.84) came in at seventh place. Tatyana Gasgow (25.18) crossed the finish line in 11th place, while Sharese Roberts (25.70), Colleen McGuire (25.95) and Denae Ford (25.96) registered the 19th, 22nd and 23rd fastest times in the field.
Ryanna Henderson, who won the 800m run in last night's High Point University Challenge, finished fourth in the women's one-mile run on Friday, while Megan Moye (4:57.39) and Halsey Merritt (4:57.75) came in at 12th place and 13th place, respectively in the 800m as well. Olivia Enright (19th), Esther Fisher (24th) and Alexa Harvey (29th) rounded out the six Wolfpack runners competing in the event.
After finishing fourth in the qualifying heat with a time of 8.43, Alexis Perry registered an official eighth-place showing in the women's 60m hurdles with a time of 8.52. In the women's long jump Amara Bell came in at 15th with a distance of 5.35m.
Jonathan Addison garnered the best showing on the night amongst the Wolfpack men, with his fourth-place finish in the men's long jump. Addison was coming off a first-place nod in the long jump in the High Point University Challenge, held the previous night.
In the men's 200m, State placed four individuals among the top-25 as Will Krehnbrink led the Pack with a 15th-place showing, while Brian Davis, Cameron Cooper and Tamerick Barbour registered 18th, 24th and 25th place finishes.
Sam Parsons (11th), Bobby Mintz (20th), Adrian Ross (25th) and John Harwell (35th) were among those competing for the Pack in the men's one-mile run, while John Wolfe added a sixth place finish to the ledger in the men's 800m with a time of 1:52.47.
