MEDELLIN, Columbia - NC State sophomore and multi-event athlete Alexis Perry raced to a gold-medal performance in the women's 100-meter hurdles Friday afternoon at the 2013 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships.

Perry, who was a double silver-medalist in the women's 100-meter hurdles and long jump at the U.S. Junior Track and Field Championships in June, won the second heat in prelims to earn a place in the championship race.

Perry went on to top her previous best in the finals with a 13.56 clip to edge out Canada's Nicole Setterington (13.57) for the gold medal.

Redshirt freshman Craig Engels will race in the junior men's 1,500-meter prelims Saturday, August 24.
