Toys For Little Troops
Dec. 10, 2012
Garner, NC -
On Saturday The NC State Dance Team participated in the annual Toys for Little Troops event. The event was held by members of the Marie Corps at Renaissance Park in Garner from about 10 am to 2 pm. Toys for little troops is designed for children who have one or more parents that are on leave out of the country involved in the US Army, Marines, Navy, etc. Dance team members interacted with children by playing games, rock climbing, and taking pictures.
The team was Joined by the 2012-2013 Miss Garner, Marines, etc, and even Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus.
The Marine Corps provided food, hot chocolate , candy canes, raffle tickets and free giveaways throughout the day to promote the holiday spirit.
Dance team members previously collected toys to donate to the Toys for Tots program and gave out these toys along with other toys donated by others at the end of the event.
Throughout the year you can often find members of the dance team raising funds and accepting donations to support the program they work so hard to be a part of. Each member also participates in obtaining sponsorships individually for the team and takes a lot of pride in the earnings they are able to acquire.
It has always been characteristic of the program to be available to the Wolfpack community and to organizations that support NC State University. We did however, make the decision this year to expand on that idea and show our support to communities and organizations that embrace charitable causes and ideals.
This year the NC State dance team has decided to focus their supportive efforts on three specific causes, Autism Awareness and Breast Cancer Awareness and U.S. soliders. All of these issues of Autism and Breast Cancer have had a personal affect on one or more of our members and/or coaches and therefore take on incredible meaning and significance to the team.
Please look for information regarding our fundraising efforts for these two important causes and feel free to contact our fundraising representatives, email@example.com, with ideas, events, personal stories we can share on our website, or offers for the team to participate or make appearances at functions.
