RALEIGH, N.C. - No. 17 NC State extended its streak of holding opponents scoreless to 24 innings on Wednesday, as the Wolfpack blanked Old Dominion 5-0 at Doak Field at Dail Park.

Since the fourth inning of last Sunday's win over Clemson, the Wolfpack (14-4) pitching staff has thrown 24 shutout innings, scattering 13 hits and five walks while striking out 28 opposing batters.

The Pack had a different streak snapped in the seventh inning of Wednesday's contest. State hitters had not been retired in order since the ninth inning of last Saturday's loss to Clemson, a string of 24 innings without going three up three down.

NC State jumped ahead 2-0 by scoring once in the first and second. The Pack extended that lead with three runs in the fourth to set the final margin at 5-0.

Brett Austin continued his hot hitting with a 2-for-4 performance including a double and a stolen base. Austin has a seven-game hitting streak going, with more than one hit in four of those contests.

Karl Keglovits (1-0) scored the first win of his career in three innings of relief. Keglovits held the Monarchs (9-6) to two hits while striking out a pair. The Wolfpack utilized six other pitchers in the contest, who combined to hold Old Dominion to one hit while fanning five.

Old Dominion starter Andy Roberts (1-1) took the loss on two runs, one earned, on four hits over the first three innings. Four more Monarch pitchers combined to allow three earned on three hits and four walks.

Adametz led off the game by reaching on a throwing error, and took second on a wild pitch. Austin moved him to third with a single to right, setting up Senay's RBI on a sac fly. In the second, Fincher set the table with a lead-off double. He stole third and scored on the next at-bat thanks to Nance's RBI.

State extended its lead to 5-0 in the fourth behind Fincher's lead-off walk and Nance's single through the right side. Grant Clyde drew a walk to load the bases, allowing Bergquist to knock in the first run on a groundout. Adametz hit a sac fly to center for the second run.
