Cooke Tied for Fourth at Hootie at Bulls Bay

AWENDAW, S.C. – After one day of competition at the 2014 Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate, sophomore David Cooke of the NC State men’s golf team is tied for fourth place in the 75-player field.
Cooke’s seven birdies and impressive score of 69 (-3) paced NC State to eighth place in the standings following the first round of play at Bulls Bay Golf Club. The Pack shot a team score of 287 (-1) and ranks ahead of Atlantic Coast Conference foes North Carolina and Duke in addition to Charleston Southern, Wisconsin, South Carolina-Aiken, GRU Augusta, and Akron.
Stanhope Johnson shot the Pack’s second lowest score of the day, carding an even-par 72 to finish the first round tied for 25th. Teammates Logan Harrell and Carter Page were next for State, ending the day tied for 41st with opening-round scores of 73 (+1).
Senior James Chapman rounded out the Pack’s first day of action at the tournament with his score of 76 (+4). He is currently tied for 56th place in the field.
The Wolfpack will resume play at the tournament on Monday morning beginning at 9 a.m. Chapman will be the first to tee off for State and he will be followed by Page (9:10 a.m.), Harrell (9:20), Johnson (9:30), and Cooke (9:40).
