TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - NC State is in ninth place after Thursday's opening round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional at Golden Eagle Country Club.
The Wolfpack shot a team score of 1-over 289 during the first of three rounds scheduled for this weekend at the par-72, 6,965-yard course.
Junior Logan Harrell shot the only sub-par round of the day for the Pack. His 3-under 69 puts him in a tie for 14th. He was even at the turn, before rolling in three birdies for a 33 on the back nine.
Senior Mitch Sutton and sophomore William Herring are tied for 42nd at 1-over 73.
Junior Albin Choi and freshman Carter Page both shot identical rounds of 2-over 74 and are tied for 49th. Choi had a wild trip around the golf course today with seven birdies, six bogeys, one triple bogey and four pars, including just one par on the back nine.
Choi ranked third in the field with seven birdies today, while Page led all 75 competitors with 16 pars. Sutton and Herring added 14 pars each to rank fourth.
North Florida leads at 16-under 272, followed by Washington at 276 and host Florida State at 277.
UNF's MJ Maguire holds a one-shot lead after shooting a 7-under 65. ACC champion Anders Albertson (Georgia Tech) and Chase Seiffert (Florida State) each fired a 66 on Thursday.
NC State tees off with Wake Forest and Oklahoma on Friday from hole No. 10 between 8-8:40 a.m.
